Admission criteria for future students in a first class

  1. Half-siblings
Children who have siblings at the Praxismittelschule when they are expected to start school are usually admitted. Children whose siblings have already completed school are also considered if possible.
  2. Practical Primary School
Applications from children from the 4th grade of the Praxisvolksschule of the Pädagogische Hochschule with a primary wish to attend the Praxismittelschule will be given special consideration, taking into account the criteria listed here or in coordination with them. Automatic admission of children from the Praxisvolksschule cannot be guaranteed based on the profile and tasks of the Praxismittelschule, which are reflected in the class compositions.
  3. Performance
The performance score for each child is calculated based on the report card. This number is a grade average, in which the subjects of German, mathematics and practical subjects are weighted more heavily. The better the school grades, the lower the performance score.
We are pleased to have excellent students in the elementary school, but we also accept children with higher performance levels. We ensure a good mix in the classes.
  4. Other criteria
Within the scope of the year, the following aspects are also taken into account:
    • Boys and girls about 50% each
    • Admission of children with special needs in coordination with the personnel resources
    • Mixing of children from the city of Innsbruck and from rural surrounding municipalities
    • Admission of children with a different first/daily language than German
    • Admission of children of different religious backgrounds

Admission criteria for those entering the profession for the first time

If a place becomes available, places will be allocated during the school year or at the beginning of the next school year (2nd to 4th grade) so that the above criteria can be maintained.
